Historical Information:

The cemetery mainly consists of the graves of those who died in the garrison of Rome; it was started not long after the occupation of Rome by the Allies in June 1944. A few graves have been brought in from the surrounding country, and there are also a number of graves of soldiers and airmen who died as prisoners of war in Rome and the neighbourhood. There are 426, 1939-1945 Commonwealth war casualties commemorated in this site. Of these, 4 are unidentified. Also commemorated here are 3 non-world war casualties.
