Joseph Viva - 82
It is with deep regret that the family of Joseph Viva of William Street, North Sydney, announce the passing of a beloved husband and father at the Harbourview Hospital, Sydney Mines, on Feb. 5, 2003, where he was a resident for some time.
Born in Sydney Mines, Joe was the son of the late Augustus and Maria Studio (Penzini) Viva.
In earlier years Joe was employed with the Highland Lines Bus Co., as a well-known driver between North Sydney and Sydney Mines. Later he was employed with the CN Railways as a stevedore, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 19 and also of the Knights of Columbus, North Sydney.
He was a veteran of the Second World War and served with the Cape Breton Highlanders `Company C'. He played a full share in the Canada triumph at Coriono Ridge, Italy.
Joe's kind, friendly and helpful manner and his love of life will always be remembered.
