Thomas R. Buchanan - 80

Mr. Thomas Buchanan, 80, Toronto and a former resident of Gardiner Mines, passed away Monday, April 28, 2003, in Toronto, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Gardiner Mines, he was the son of the late.
Thomas and Margaret (McNeil) Buchanan. Thomas was a former member of St. James Parish, Gardiner Mines.

He was a veteran of the Second World War, and bravely served overseas with the Cape Breton Highlanders. He was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 78, Neville Street, Dominion.

Mr. Buchanan is survived by his wife, Olga (Golemiec); a son, Daniel, Toronto; two step-daughters, Rita (Wayne) Hart, Glace Bay, Gladys (John) MacLean, Reserve Mines; two stepsons, Francis (Anne), Glace Bay, and Gerald (Chrissy), Scarborough. He is also survived by sisters, Kay Deveaux, Anna (Dan) McIn­tyre; four brothers, Hughie, Willy, Gordon and Danny. He will be sadly missed by his two grandsons, Jonathan and Andrew; 12 step-grandchil­dren and four great-grand­children.

Besides his parents, Thomas was predeceased by a brother, Mike, a sister, Clara and a stepson, Thomas Gilmet.
