Norman `Onnie' Brown

Norman `Onnie' Brown, 83, of Sydney Mines, passed away Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born July 16, 1921, in Cranberry, Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late John David and Veronica (MacPhee) Brown.

He was a member of Car-men United Church, Sydney Mines.
He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served with
the Cape Breton Highlanders in Italy where he was wounded.
For the last several years, his home has been the veterans unit at Harbourview Hospital, Sydney Mines.

Norman was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Besides his wife, Greta (Finney), he is survived by four daughters, Norma (John) Oster, Bridgewater, Peggy (James) Dunlap, Leitches Creek, Beverly Darby-Brown, Sydney Mines, and Vera (Russie DeMarco), Sydney Mines; three sons, Bill '(Diane), Sydney Mines, Bobby (Becky), Englishtown, Paul (Helen), Sydney; and daughter-in-law, Lilly, Sydney Mines.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Pat Oster, Sarah (Jeff) Van der Wal, Becky (Sanjay) Patra, Kim (Sean) and Jamie Dunlap, Corey and Cody Brown, Daniel and Matthew Brown, Jessica and Alicia Brown and Lee Brown and Garrett For-rest and seven great-grandchildren, Megan Van de Wal, Emilly, Andrew and Molly Dunlap, Jordan and Kelsey Brown and Sheighlynn MacLean.

He was predeceased by brothers, James, Davey,' Lenny, Matt and Roderick and by sisters, Christy, Catherine and Gertie.
