It is with sad hearts that we, the family of Cliff McIntyre announce his passing, Oct. 4, 2007, at Taigh Na Mara, Glace Bay. Born in Glace Bay, Sept. 23, 1914, he was the son of the late Michael and Marianne (Stephenson) McIntyre.

Cliff was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Cliff is survived by his loving wife, Mary (McDonald); daughter, Marie, Goose Bay, Labrador, her husband Baxter MacDonald and their daughters, Diane, Kathleen, Mary-Anne and Colleen and great-granddaughter, Cleo- Marie; son, Jim, Glace Bay; daughter, Valerie, Glace Bay, her husband Greg Livingstone and their daughters, Tessa and Linnea. Cliff was the last surviving member of his family, predeceased by his brothers, Mello, Naish, Newman, Greg, Ambrose (Chub), Pat and Dick; sisters, Jenny, Clara (Lal) Peters, Monica (Nene) MacPhee.

A veteran of the Second World War, Cliff served overseas from 19391945 in Italy and Gibraltar with the Cape Breton Highlanders. He was a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 3. Following his return home from duty, he operated the Maple Grove Dairy in Glace Bay for many years with his brother, Chub.

Cliff will also be remembered as owner/operator of the Allenby Club in Glace Bay with his partner, Tom Trasuk. Cliff was at one time a member of the Glace Bay Council Knights of Columbus.

Throughout his final years, Cliff was well cared for by VON, home care workers, staff of the Glace Bay General Hospital and the staff of Taigh Na Mara. Thank you all for your support.

In accordance with his wishes, his remains have been donated to the Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine.
