Murdoch Morrison. 86, of Taigh Na Mara, Glace Bay, and formerly of Williston House, Sydney and Thomas Street, New Waterford, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2007, in Taigh Na Mara.

Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late Donald John and Sarah Jane (Smith) Mor­rison.

Murdoch was a member of the Royal Cana­dian Legion, Branch 15, New Waterford, and a veteran of the Second World War, serving over-seas with the Cape Breton Highlanders from 1941-1946.

He also worked in Nos. 16 and 12 col­lieries and then with Devco Railway until his retirement.

Murdoch had a great love of sports and enjoyed playing base-ball in his younger years.

Surviving are his son, Donald (Ruth Ann) Morrison, Sydney; sisters, Christine 'Chris' Morrison, New Waterford, Margaret MacLeod, Liverpool, N.S. grandchildren, Ian and Jean, Sydney: sisters-in-law, Dorothy O'Regan, Campbell River, B.C., Theresa Pinkerton, Dominion; brothers-in-law, Wishie Campbell, Glace Bay, Donnie Campbell, Dominion; sever-al nieces and nephews.

Murdoch was predeceased by his wife, the former Mary `Teckie' Thecla Campbell, broth­ers, Roderick, Smith, sister, Mary Gadd.
