William Francis Connell - 90

CONNELL, William Francis "Bill" 90, Middleton, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2008, in Soldiers' Memo Memorial Hospital, Middleton.

Born August 21, 1917, in North Sydney, he was a son of the late John and Mary (MacDonald) Connell. Bill served with the Cape Breton Highlanders in the Canadian Army in Canada and overseas during the Second World War.

Following the war, Bill became a pharmacist and served in the army as a hospital pharmacist and later hospital administrator until his military retirement in 1966. In his civilian life, Bill worked a short term at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital and then at the Greenwood Pharmicy, Greenwood, for many years.

Bill was a member of St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church, Middleton; Middleton Curling Club, Eden Golf and Country Club and the Royal Canadian Legion.

He is survived by son, Richard (Linda), Fort Saskatchewan, Alta.; Michael (Laura), Edmonton, Alta.; Shari Reg) Lund, Trout Lake; grandchildren, Dustin (Tara), Mitchell, Shane, Brett and Caitlin Connell; great-granddaughter, Emily, all of Alberta; and family friend, Terry Webster-Lamrock, Kingston.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former, Mary Catherine Boudreau; sister, Gertrude (Mur doch) Morrison.
